Exercise and Pregnancy

Prescribing a medication for pregnant women is a complex process.

Before obstetricians and gynecologists decide which dose of which drug can best treat a condition without putting any harmful side effects on the mother and the baby, they consider the patients age, general health, the number of months before delivery, tolerance for medications, and any other drugs the pregnant patient may be taking.

Prescribing exercise on pregnant women has to be just as scientific and precise. The type, intensity, frequency, and duration of a dose of exercise are all critical. One persons healthy, vigorous workout could be hazardous to another. These dangers may be greater in pregnant women because they are more likely to have strains and other serious side effects for the would-be mother.

However, if exercise will be implemented and carried out in a normal, average range, exercise will not have an effect on the overall condition of the pregnancy and especially on labor or delivery.

Pregnancy

Quality prenatal care should be given to a mother during her pregnancy. She should be prepared for the normal delivery of a healthy baby. Complications should be prevented at all costs.

All of these things are boiled down to the fact that a pregnant woman should be cared in such a way that she will not be compelled to do vigorous work but should not also stay in bed and be inactive until she gives birth to her baby.

Consequently, a pregnant womans condition varies in relation to the growth and development of the baby in side her womb. Therefore, it is necessary that proper health guidance be provided by her physician during her visit.

Moreover, it is important to keep the pregnant womans life active in order to promote good health, not only for her but also for the baby most importantly.

Physical conditions like blood pressure, weight and health status is usually monitored during the pregnant womans visit to her doctor. For this reason, it is significant to note that exercise can be the number one factor in order to keep these aspects in good condition.

As the health experts contend, adequate physical and emotional information is needed by a pregnant woman to prepare herself for delivery. She needs practical health messages in keeping herself and the baby healthy.

Hence, for mothers or would-be mothers who are not yet aware why they should exert some effort in engaging into moderate, normal exercise, here is a list of some of its benefits so that you will be able to understand the reason why pregnant women have to exercise regularly:

1. Defiance against fatigue

As muscle becomes fatigued, it produces less force. To accomplish a task like climbing the stairs, for example, or shoveling snow, more units of muscle must be called into play to back up the wearied muscles.

The tired muscles are both less efficient and less effective. Hence, this will just put more strain on the pregnant woman because of the weight that is continuously adding up each day. That is why tired muscles will usually result to leg cramps or sore muscles.

What every pregnant woman must know is that exercise improves the condition of the muscles and their ability to work longer without fatigue.

2. Reduce backaches

Even when you sit or stand, some muscles are working, and such relatively easy postures can tax some muscles and cause fatigue. The muscles of the lower back, for example, can be exhausted and worn out by the effort of keeping erect when a pregnant woman stand still for several hours.

With exercise, a pregnant woman can correct this error by developing her posture.

3. Increase the amount of oxygen

Work and exercise rely on glycogen, a substance produced by the body from complex carbohydrates and stored muscles and liver. The supply of glycogen in the muscles determines and limits the duration of activity. Exercise depletes the glycogen in the muscles and leads to tiredness.

However, when glycogen is depleted by strenuous activity, it is replaced in quantities greater than before, as if the body recognized the need to lay in a larger supply of fuel.

Hence, oxidation is essential for converting glycogen to the energy that pregnant women need to wiggle a finger, flex a muscle, or practice the lungs and heart for some blowing action during normal delivery.

These are just some of the many benefits exercise can bring to pregnant women. Besides, nothing is completely wrong for a pregnant woman doing some moderate exercises. The only important thing to remember is that before starting an exercise program, whether pregnant or not, it is best to consult your doctor. As they say, doctors know best!

What Would I Do Without My Doula?

By the time my husband and I finally got pregnant the first time, I had done a lot of reading about birth options and we had already decided to have a midwife instead of a doctor. We believe that pregnancy is a healthy state of being, and unless something came up, a midwife was the best way to go for us. Besides, where we live, a midwife can deliver babies at hospitals, so I felt that was the safest way to go. (Although, now, I feel I could have had my babies at home… but that is a whole other article!).

When I was a few weeks pregnant I came across an article on doulas, but I had never heard of a doula so I wasn\’t quite sure what to make of it. A doula is a woman who supports women through childbirth. \”Doula\” is an ancient Greek word meaning \”servant to women\”. A doula provides a woman with continuous emotional support, aides in her physical comfort, and encourages the laboring woman. She also provides praise, reassurance, and explains what is going on during the labor. While some husbands and partners may feel that it\’s their job to offer support to the laboring woman, and therefore initially feel that they would not want a doula, after the birth they are very pleased and relieved that they had one. A doula can help husbands and partners by suggesting ways they can help the laboring woman, and doulas actually assist the husband to feel like he is contributing.

Studies have shown that women supported by a doula during labor have: \r

    50% reduction of cesarean rate

\r

    25% shorter labor

\r

    60% reduction in epidural requests

\r

    30% reduction in analgesia use

\r

    40% reduction in forceps delivery

From Mothering the Mother: How a Doula Can Help You Have a Shorter, Easier and Healthier Birth by Marshall H. Klaus (Perseus Press, 1993)

When I was about halfway through my pregnancy, we decided to interview some doulas and see if it would be right for us. We met with three doulas. The first one was Jan, who we ultimately picked. We liked her right away and I wanted to hire her on the spot, but my husband insisted that we meet the other doulas too because we might find someone we like even more. (How could that be possible?, I wondered.) Well, it turned out that the other two doulas were wonderful too, but our instincts told us to go with Jan. So we hired her.

We had to give her a deposit of $100 to confirm our commitment, and sign an agreement as well. How do I describe this fabulous woman? She is very tall and has a great presence. She is quiet, knowledgeable and thoughtful; she doesnt speak a lot, but when she does it is carefully thought out. In other words, she is not \”chatty\” but not shy either. She has an engaging smile, she is discrete, and she is strong. I felt like she could sweep me up in her arms and take care of me!

Jan came over several weeks before my due date to do some one-on-one prenatal training with both James and I. She is a lactation consultant as well so she helped by answering my questions about breastfeeding in addition to my questions about what to expect during labor.

I went into labor three days before my due date, on August 13, 2001. It was about midnight and I was just getting into bed when I felt (or heard?) a loud POP! And then another one. And warm liquid dribbling down my legs. My water had broken. Yay! This was finally happening.

The contractions started immediately and James rubbed my thigh while I rested on the bed. The contractions got closer and closer together and James called Jan at about 5:00am when they were about 5 minutes apart. They got really intense after that and by the time Jan arrived, I was vomiting in a bucket on my bed.

Jan threw down the birth ball she was carrying, flew across the bed, grabbed my hand, looked me straight in the eye with her face close to mine and said, \”I want you to breathe like this.\” In an instant, she had me calmed down and breathing effectively. She was amazing. I went from being in a total panic to feeling like everything was going to be ok.

When my midwife arrived at 7:00am, she told me I was about 3 centimetres dilated. I was so disappointed! But Jan was my cheerleader, telling me that I was working so hard, and managing so well, and that my body was only going to give me what I could handle. She helped James help me by suggesting things he could do for me, and he felt taken care of by Jan as well.

It was only about an hour later that Jan noticed my breathing had changed and she called out to our midwife who was in another room doing paperwork. Our midwife didn\’t think that I could have progressed that quickly but Jan stood her ground and said, \”It really sounds like she is trying to push.\” So the midwife checked me again (doulas do not perform medical tasks) and I was about 7 cm dilated! This was going fast. Suddenly everybody sprung into action and started gathering up all the bags and things we needed for the hospital. If it wasn\’t for Jan, I really don\’t think we would have made it on time.

While James drove, Jan sat with me in the backseat holding my hand, talking to me, encouraging me and calming me. She was so amazing! After we got to the hospital, she never left my side. James had to go fill out the paperwork and park the car, but Jan was there beside me constantly.

I felt such complete trust in Jan that I had to hold her right hand a particular way through each contraction. It was quite funny! A contraction would start and I\’d yell, \”Hand! Hand!\” and Jan would come running and grab my hand. I don\’t know why, but it was only Jan\’s hand that comforted me. It had to be Jan\’s hand.

She also helped by taking me to the bathroom and getting me water to drink, a cold cloth for my forehead (without being asked), and waving tissues with aromatherapy oil on them around the room. I found that I couldnt communicate what I wanted or needed, but Jan always seemed to know, thank goodness. She suggested different laboring positions and she helped during the delivery by suggesting positions for pushing, too. I only pushed one hour and then our beautiful Hana was born. (Hana means \”flower\” in Japanese). Jan stayed with me while I delivered the placenta (James was on the other side of the room with Hana) and helped me attempt to breastfeed right away. She stayed for about 4 hours after Hana was born and helped me take a shower and gave me lots of help with breastfeeding.

What more can I say about having a doula? She made my birth experience fantastic. I am one of those people who can honestly say that I enjoyed labor (twice!) and I want to do it again! When we found out we were pregnant for the second time, I could not imagine doing it without Jan. It was a much easier labor and birth, but I am still so grateful that Jan was there she made it a great experience again. It is true that continuous support during labor has many, many benefits, and I am one of the \”lucky\” (or is it \”well prepared\” because I hired a doula?) women who was able to fully experience birth without drugs, or intervention. I had a healthy birth and a healthy baby. And a doula to help us through it all.

I wish you all the best during your labor and birth!

Birth Certificates

A birth certificate is one of the most important documents a person must keep a copy of. Almost all major and official transactions application for visas, passports, drivers license, opening a bank account, among others, require birth certificates to authenticate a persons identity. One has to present a birth certificate to acquire marriage license or get into college, even.

Hospitals have forms that have to be filled out with the assistance of the parents upon the birth of their child. It will contain details like the names of the baby and the parents, complete present address of the family, name of the hospital, and the babys biological information birth weight, height and gender, as well as the exact date and time of delivery. The attending physician will authenticate the information. The parents will have to submit a copy to the city halls registry where a birth certificate will be prepared. An authenticated copy of the original is given to the parents, and the city hall keeps the original document.

Some transactions like applications for credit cards may not require an authenticated copy of your birth certificate a photocopy of the authenticated copy may suffice. Sometimes, institutions may only require seeing your passport or drivers license and you wouldnt get those without a birth certificate.

To avoid unnecessary trouble and inconveniences, always have an authenticated copy of your birth certificate at the ready. You wouldnt know when you need to submit one. Also, keep it in a secure place. You wouldnt want it landing in the hands of people with malicious intent who could steal your identity.

If you have lost your copy, you may obtain another from the city hall where you were registered. Remember that you can only get an authentic copy from the city hall. Forging your birth certificate is a criminal offense, because it is, after all, an official government document honored in major transactions. or get into college, even.

The Downside of Conception: Pregnancy Weight Gain

You are absolutely ecstatic; your day couldnt have gotten better, you just saw the little pink plus sign on your home pregnancy test (HPT). Youre going to have a baby! What can be better than that? This is something you and your husband have been waiting for over 6 years. Now, what do you expect now that you\’re expecting?

A Little More of you to Love

You have just passed through the early stages including the nausea; the constantly exhausted phase of your pregnancy, and you have now entered the craving ice cream and pickles phase of your pregnancy. With all of that Chunky Monkey passing through your lips, its going to end up somewhere.

Pregnancy weight gain is natural. Not only are your constant cravings working against you, but that little bundle joy growing inside of you is also adding to your slowly growing girth. Your baby is gaining weight, and your uterus is filling with water so your body is putting on a little extra poundage. Not only is your baby adding to your weight, but your own body is secreting hormones that are causing this beautiful pregnancy weight gain.

Pregnancy weight gain is not just an excuse to get a whole new wardrobe; it is also a bulge of pride that you can carry with you wherever you go. It is an invitation to people to come and talk with you, and ask you when you are due. You do not however have to let them touch your tummy if you dont want them to, feel free to tell them all no, if that is what you prefer.

Keeping Active

Just because you are pregnant that does not mean you have to just sit around and allow yourself to get unnecessarily fat. Even if pregnancy is an excuse for getting all the ice cream you want, you can still get out and be active.

Despite the fact that you are going to gain weight no matter what you do, you dont have to let it go too far. Keeping active during pregnancy will help keep that pregnancy weight gain in check.

I\’m not saying that you should go out and run a marathon, I\’m saying that you can get out and take a short walk a couple of blocks to pick up your own ice cream. You can do pregnancy calisthenics, or pregnancy yoga. Even though serious, heavy exercising isnt recommended for pregnancy you can still get out and get active.

Being pregnant can make it very uncomfortable to be too active, but keep in mind that being healthy during pregnancy is very important for you and for your baby. So if you are dealing with pregnancy weight gain dont worry too much about, its natural. Just stay active, and you and your baby will be thankful for it.

Bringing Baby Home - How To Get Your House Ready

There are plenty of things to prepare for before you bring your new baby home. Don\’t forget to get your house ready too. Here are a few things you can do to make your home a safer place.

Tie off or remove window blind cords. If left to hang down to floor level, they present a hazard to your child. Mount hardware to the wall next to your window and wrap the cords up.

Move hinged containers away from ground level. Anything with a heavy top can pinch or smash little fingers. Another option is to find furniture and storage that hold the lid in any position so it won\’t close on its own.

Use plastic covers over outlets. Outlet covers are available in several different styles and shapes and you can even find them to match your decor.

Identify and catalog which plants you have in your home. Some plants can be toxic if eaten so it\’s good to know what you\’re dealing with.

Use baby gates in front of stairs or other unsafe areas. You can also use them to keep kids away from pet doors, where they could get outside.

Keep toilet covers down to minimize the risk of drowning.

Set your water heater\’s maximum temperature By limiting how hot your faucets get, you\’ll reduce the risk of accidental scalding.

Some of these ideas are designed for when you child has grown a bit but it\’s good to get into the habit now. And it\’s amazing how quickly they grow older! You can never make a home 100% baby proof but these precautions will help remove some of the major risks.

How To Deal With A Full Time Job While Pregnant

If you are a working woman and discover you are pregnant, there are some things that you have to consider. Most of the time, it is perfectly ok to work while you are pregnant. It also may depend on your job and whether or not you are considered a high-risk pregnancy. High risk can be anything from a mom to be over the age of 35 or women who live with diabetes or other conditions. If your doctor allows you to work, follow their instructions to the tee. If they don\’t recommend it but you may feel the need to work, then you really have to start to listen to your body.

The first three months of a pregnancy are crucial, as every one knows. You will start to experience fatigue in the first trimester as well as some morning sickness. But you also have to work at keeping your stress levels way down. Stress is not good at all through a pregnancy but in the first three months it is a taboo. You may want to consider cutting back on your work hours. Start with a few hours a week. Many women can successfully work up to their ninth month but that is not ideal for everyone.

After you are past the three-month mark and you start to tell everyone, you have to tell your boss. Most places are very accommodating but you still have to tell them. Ask them about reducing your hours or if you have a certain job function that is physically demanding, then ask about removing that task from your workload.

You want to be able to work to your fullest capacity, but it doesn\’t always work that way. It is ok to slow down and start taking care of your self. If you are one of those workers who would eat and work at the same time because there was no room for lunch. When you are pregnant, make the time to eat without any distractions. Your job is important to you but the baby is more important. You really have to make conscious changes to your lifestyle when you are pregnant.

It can be hard because you are so used to doing things a certain way that you forget to slow down or stop doing something because you are pregnant. Most women start their morning off with coffee. While experts say that one cup of caffeine a day is ok. Try to keep it simple, have a simple cup of coffee instead of an espresso. You may find yourself working slower but too much caffeine can be harmful to your baby.

Discuss working with your doctor and your partner. See if it something that can be changed to accommodate your situation. Ask your boss to speak to the doctor if there are any questions about your limitations or have your doctor write a note. Remember, the most important thing is your health and the health of your baby.

Affordable Maternity Clothes - Are You Hunting For Affordable Maternity Clothes?

With knowledge gained from other women\’s experiences, you are well aware that the impending arrival of a \”bundle of joy\” brings with it its own expenses! So you cannot afford to just splurge on anything and everything, but will have to keep a strict eye on the budget for quite some time to come! One expense that is unavoidable is purchase of maternity wear. The hunt is therefore on for affordable maternity clothes that can be purchased well within the budget and also present a stylish look!

The big question is - where will you find just the right kind of affordable maternity clothes?

Well, there is one such online shop! It is called Babystyle. This web site caters to all sorts of tastes, and there are more than enough styles to last you for the entire length of your pregnancy. As the description suggests, they are affordable maternity clothes. So if you were toying with the idea of getting a loan, forget it!

Generally, low prices and quality do not go together! But Babystyle differs in this regard. They have very rigid ideas about providing good quality - if the quality fails to meet the set standards, the designs are not put on display. Additionally, feedback about their maternity wear is encouraged, whether it is from pregnant women, their partners/husbands, grandparents, anyone. Thus, unpopular stock is discarded, leaving behind only the best quality of affordable maternity clothes.

Like everyone else, you could go for the modern melange jersey top, which is a popular selection among affordable maternity clothes. This jersey is made of 100% cotton and can be cleaned even in a washing machine. Soft to the touch, this jersey has raglan and princess seams. The sleeves are designed in a blouson style, and hence it has a different look from other T-shirts.

Another popular choice is the silk kimono top. Check out its features, which include - a loose-fitting style with an empire silhouette and modern piercing details, a wild grass print, and a low price of 50 dollars. The 100% silk design will give you a feeling of luxury! This top can be teamed with pants as well as skirts. There is a size for everyone - from extra large to small.

Now as the mother-to-be, you need not grumble about not finding affordable maternity clothes. Also, you need not give up on style! Since you have spent so frugally on your maternity wear, you will discover that once the baby is born you can spend liberally on things like diapers, strollers, swings, etc. Do you think this lesson in economics is well worth learning for yourself and for sharing with your growing family?

Advice on Buying Maternity Wear

Just because you are 8 months pregnant with a stomach out to there, it doesn\’t mean that you shouldn\’t still care about your appearance. In fact, when you\’re feeling hormonal and down in the dumps, a good shopping trip for stylish maternity wear may be exactly what you need.

General advice\r
\rThe first instinct pregnant mothers have when shopping is to go directly for something that is large and baggy. Please avoid this as maternity clothing that is layered or has bold prints or horizontal stripes will only make you seem bigger. Everyone knows that black is slimming so if you want to appear smaller, go for maternity clothing in one solid color. Don\’t compromise your style. If you find maternity clothing too plain, try going to plus size stores or shop at your usual haunts but buy a bigger size. This will allow you to go for styles that you would normally have preferred pre-pregnancy.

Maternity wear budget\r
\rBe careful with your budget though, as you have to remember you won\’t be that big for that long! If you want to save money, borrow other people\’s maternity clothing. Most mothers\’ keep their maternity clothing in case of future pregnancies or as a keepsake and they\’ll probably be happy to let their used maternity clothing be used by you. Or, you could try yard sales or consignment shops for a good bargain.

Shoes\r
\rIf you are well into your pregnancy, you don\’t want to buy high heels. Flat shoes or flip flops are the best way to go. If you must have heels in your shoe, try kitten heels as they are not that high and will be comfortable to wear.

Maternity formal wear\r
\rThe best kind of formal wear won\’t hide your shape. Be proud of your new pregnant shape and show it off. Formal wear for expectant mothers can be found in suits or dresses. The most common colors are black or midnight blue as it is one solid color that is slimming to all shapes. The best maternity dresses are empire cut, which means it is cut right under the bust, to provide maximum room for movement of your growing belly. Maternity suits are also alternative and very flattering to those who are four to five months pregnant.

Maternity swim wear\r
\rIf you are only four to six months pregnant, you can probably get away with going to plus sized stores and purchasing larger swimsuits as maternity swim wear. In this way, you will get a greater range of swim wear to choose from without having to change your style. Maternity swim wear is not readily available all year round so make sure to head straight to your favorite maternity clothing store when the sun comes out if you\’re planning a tropical holiday during the winter.

Whatever your shape or size, you are bound to find maternity wear for any occasion! Don\’t just stick to the boring styles you often see in maternity stores; be inventive when mixing and matching to create your own maternity wear style!

Preparing for Your C-Section - Don\’t Be Caught Off Guard

Almost 30% of all births result in a c-section.

Most c-sections are planned due to medical conditions; some c-sections are even a choice women make in avoiding childbirth pain, however many occur in the wake of complications during labor, and these are the c-sections that catch moms off guard.

For a mom planning a vaginal birth it can be a mental shock to know that your birth expectations won\’t be met. Instead you\’ll be confronted with anesthesia, catheters, surgery, a longer hospital stay and a host of potential complications.

That\’s where planning becomes such an important component. Without it you are left with your doctor and hospital staff making decisions for you and that can leave you feeling out of control and emotionally compromised.

Whether you expect to have a c-section or not, planning is key.

Statistics show that women suffer a lesser degree of emotional stress and depression from having a c-section if they are prepared for the process, meaning they fully understand why their c-section is needed and take part in the decisions being made.

You may be thinking that it\’s easy to plan for something you expect to happen, but how do you plan for something you don\’t expect?

\”Expect the unexpected\”, as they say and plan accordingly.

Planning for a surgical birth means understanding the risks, becoming familiar with the procedures, deciding on personal choices, familiarizing yourself with possible complications and being ready for how you will respond to them.

So how do you effectively prepare?

You\’ve probably heard women say that they didn\’t feel their c-section was really necessary or that doctors are often too quick to perform c-sections due to convenience or avoidance of legal issues. This may or may not be true in many cases however, wouldn\’t you want to be sure that your c-section was the best choice for you?

The only way to effectively prepare is to understand why c-sections are performed and be aware of your options. You aren\’t going to be able to do this while flat on your back in labor. This is why keeping yourself informed, and having a plan for what may occur is so important. The last thing you want is your doctor or hospital staff making decisions for you. This is your body and your baby\’s birth; it should be as you would like it.

No matter how you expect the birth of your baby to go, take the time to go over possible complications, understand the choices and be ready emotionally and physically:

Here are a few of the items to think about when having a c-section. Give each of them some thought and work them into your birth plan:

Surgical Anesthesia
\r
There are basically 3 types of anesthesia, spinal, epidural and General. Spinals and Epidurals are regional anesthesias which mean they numb a region of your body, in the case of a c-section the region is roughly from the waist down. Most c-sections use a spinal or epidural and you should have an idea for which one you would like.

The urinary catheter
\r
You will be administered a catheter before surgery. Make sure it gets inserted after your anesthesia as inserting a catheter may \’smart\’ a bit.

Where does your baby go after the birth
\r
Ask your doctor or the hospital about having your baby rest on your stomach after it\’s born. At this time the baby is often whisked away and never brought back until you are in recovery. Think about how you wish this to be and request it beforehand.

Discuss pain relief with your doctor
\r
Being as pain free as possible is important to your recovery, it also helps get breastfeeding off to a good start. Your milk may be slow to come in so it\’s important to get the process going as soon as possible.

How do you envision your delivery to be?
\r
Most hospitals will allow your partner with you in delivery but some hospitals will allow other family members as well. Check with your hospital and doctor to find out what their procedures are and plan according. Also don\’t forget to think about pictures and/or videos.

Your Recovery
\r
Hospital recovery takes about 3-4 days. The first day or so you will be slow and tired, but stay focused on moving about as quickly as you can, and don\’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it.

Keep in mind that your recovery at home may not be as easy as it was in the hospital. Make sure your home is set up for convenience before leaving for the hospital. Have childcare for older children taken care of, plan meals and household chores so that you are free to concentrate on other baby related things. Work in a modest exercise plan that keeps your energy up and get as much rest as possible while staying focused on yourself and your baby. as possible while staying focused on yourself and your baby.

17 Weeks Pregnant - What You Can Expect

Congratulations, you\’re now 17 weeks pregnant. You\’re getting closer to being halfway through your pregnancy. So, let\’s take a look at what is happening with you and your baby, and what you can expect in the future.

Baby

Currently, at 17 weeks pregnant, your baby is approximately 4.5\” - 5.5\” long, and weighs in at 4-5 ounces. Doesn\’t seem like much right now does it? Well, your baby is big enough to let you know its there on occasion. Of course, it will be a couple of more weeks before you feel a lot of movement, but right now you may notice a small movement here and there. With a stethoscope you will sure know they\’re there. You can actively hear that heartbeat pumping back and forth.

At 17 weeks pregnant your baby is about the size of the palm of your hand. They are now also beginning to hear sounds as their ears are starting to stand out. This is a time when many women will begin talking to their baby and singing songs even more than they have done before because your baby is recognizing your voice.

Mother

As your uterus is now growing more and more, it is also shifting your center of gravity. You may feel like your losing your balance at times. Don\’t be concerned though, this is completely normal at 17 weeks pregnant.

Have you had an amniocentisis yet? Between 16 and 17 weeks pregnant is when the first ultrasound is generally done. This is a very special time for both mother and father. The first ultrasound is one of the joys of pregnancy.

You may now begin to start showing signs of pregnancy at this stage, although if you\’re not, it\’s nothing to worry about. Some women show signs earlier than others.

Keep in mind that at 17 weeks pregnant and beyond, you\’ll need to reduce your stress level. While it\’s impossible to eliminate all stress in your life, you should try to be mindful of it. Avoid situations that you know will only create additional stress.

Being 17 weeks pregnant is an interesting time since you can now begin feeling a small movement here and there from your baby. It\’s only one of the many great things that lie just ahead.
